Sunday Funday!!

Started a new tradition this Sunday... henceforth we shall be known as the ladies who Brunch. I've always wanted to do Sunday brunches with girlfriends a la Sex in the City Style... But I have always had to work.... Due to some miracle I seem to be having Sundays off!!! Woot... leaving me free to indulge in company of the female persuasion.... and not that way... you sicko..

Today was such a blast. Brunch was great and the ensuing deck party a welcome treat. It's intention was of course to lure the God's of spring back to NYC so we can do the same thing but in bathing suits... This is best done by enticing them with cinqo de mayo type fare, of which we had an abundance... complete with black bean soup, amazingly prepared by the wonderful Sainttigerlily!!

Production Pix!!

So we wrapped shoot today on the short film I was working on!!! Awesome!! Unfortunately, I didn't really get any production stills of any other scene but this.... Boooooo! By the time we were shooting the last two scenes we were too rushed for time and the space was so tiny... no room for a photographer... So if you want to see my character die you will just have to wait for the movie. Hopefully, I will have footage in the next few months. The director plans on submitting this to festivals, some of which have deadlines that are really close.......

Alright... I know you have seen enough make up pix. But this one is for my hair... I did my own hair and it was soooooooo unruly. By some stroke of genius.. out the the chaos I created this.... I'm so glad I have photo evidence that my hair is capable of doing this....

OK... I think this is one of my favorite pix of all times.... The way I feel when I look at this photo is why I love working on film.

I have always had a fascination with mirrors and watching myself in the mirror. Hence the Alice obsession. I'm sure vanity has a large part in it... believe me I love checkin' myself out. But it's also more than that... I love seeing myself in space.. interacting with other people, laughing, thinking. I am utterly fascinated by the way others see me. I'm sure that is why working in film has been my greatest joy. Intellectually, I love the process and all that goes into production. But personally, I often feel like who I really am is so disguised by what other people see. Film gives you the opportunity to show the audience what YOU want, how you want to be observed. You get to tell the story. I guess I'm still struggling with the ability to do this in real life... but who doesn't.

Make Up Pix!!! by Kellie Wilson

My wonderfully fabulous and ubertalented coworker Kellie, generously offered her time and did my make up for today's shoot. Well... we all know I have a problem taking pictures of myself.... if you give me a camera I will inadvertently begin mugging and taking my own picture, it is kind of a torretts syndrome like urge that I can't deny... don't judge me. Let's just say that Kellie's make up made it almost impossible to drag me away from the camera... fortunately, there was a huge one on set...

After singing my head off I headed out to cheer for...... ugh... Who was it again.... Oh.. West Virginia basket ball. I actually missed the whole game because of my rehearsal..... I know tragic, considering I'm such a sports nut. But I managed to make it to the after party.... and the after after party...teehee.

So.... these videos were taken on my new camera which apparently only takes 15 seconds of video at a time.... So I realize they are kinda lame. Fortunately, Michael at The Smooth Spot, was kind enough to take a full video with his camera. Once he sends them to me I will refurbish this post. I can't say enough about Michael and his studio. Filming and Singing!!!!

So Fast Alice has been a busy girl this week.... I managed to book another short film!!! Yeah!!!! However, I found out about it on Monday. It shoots this weekend in the evening so I had to have someone take my Saturday shift (aka the only day I will make any money all week) to do it. But it was a happy sacrifice. Especially since I am playing a hotel singer and the director is letting me use my voice!!! I can't believe that I am going to get footage of myself on actual film singing!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, I am recording at a studio my coach was kind enough to recommend tomorrow evening. I'm singing a Jazz version of the song "Our Day Will Come." It is awesome and sounds great in my voice....
I am also happy to announce that I now have my own digital camera..... OK it may be a dinosaur and huge... but it was free..... thanks Daddy. I plan on taking some pix tomorrow at the studio. Also, I have plans to watch a college basketball game and hopefully watch grown men degrade themselves in a frat boy capacity. Which of course will be photographed as well....

Metamorphosis

So the blog is kind of like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly.... I enjoyed writing so much about my adventures in Australia... I have decided to continue writing about my adventures here in NYC aka wonderland. I have a deep love for Alice in Wonderland and the blog will slowly be transforming into the adventures of "Fast Alice Glass" my new amazing alter ego.. I decided to forgo traditional spandex and opt for the pretty blue dress.... so watch out folks while Fast Alice pursues her white rabbit on the streets of NYC....
